Converting Your Yellow Stock Fogs to
Clear Fogs with Black Housing

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: 3 STARS

Step 1:

Clean fog light with 100% Terry Cloth Towel, and take out the bulb.

Step 2:

Pre Heat oven to 350 Degrees

Step 3:

Set timer for 5 minutes and insert fog light.

Step 4:

When timer finishes take the fog light out and put it on a flat surface. While the fog light is still hot, start pulling the front lens off. Start at the edges and then move on to the clips.

Step 5:

After pulling the pieces make sure that no silicone fell into the housing. After that take a flat head screwdriver and slowly and lightly pull the chrome piece away from the lexon cover.

Step 6:

There are two screws in the housing next to the yellow lens. Unscrew them and slowly pull the metal piece off. This is a picture of all of the pieces taken apart.

Step 7:

Start with 120 Grit Sandpaper; move in an upward and downward motion finishing with a circular motion (FLAT SIDE DOWN). Then move on to 220 Grit, 400 Grit, and 600 Grit.

Step 8:

Take 1200 Grit sandpaper, and with a wet paper towel, and wet the flat side of the lens. Wet sand the flat part of the lens for approx. three minutes. By now the lens should be almost perfectly clear.

Step 9:

Put the now clear lens back into the housing for safe keeping

Step 10:

Lightly sand down the chrome area of the housing until smooth with no imperfections. I used Dupli-Color Grey Engine Primer, to prime the housing. Spray 1-2 thin coats of primer for the meanwhile, and after 15 minutes put a thick coat covering the whole housing.

Step 11:

Let the primer dry for a good 18-24 hours and then go to a well ventilated area (i.e. out side) and spraypaint the housing. Move in a horizontal motion. With the Dupli-Color Flat Black paint I applied 2 thin coats followed by a thick coat within 10 minutes. Make sure you cover the whole housing at once because you have to wait 12-16 hours for it to dry.

Step 12:

Slowly put the painted black piece against the lens. I will fit right. Re heat the oven to 350 Degrees for 3 minutes. Then slowly push the housing together. For more security use a LITTLE bit of silicone.
